Bauhaus Cup

02.03.0043

The lettering BAUHAUS is emblazoned large and confidently on the façade of the Bauhaus building in Dessau. It was designed by Herbert Bayer, who became head of the newly founded workshop for printing and advertising after the move to Dessau.

However, the pattern of this Bauhaus cup is not only inspired by Herbert Bayer's famous lettering. Designers such as Anni Albers and Katja Rose experimented at the Bauhaus with developing textile patterns using a typewriter. Text becomes textile.

The print on unglazed porcelain under the glossy lip rim gives the cup its own haptic quality.

Material: porcelain

Made: for the designshop bauhaus desssau.
